"Burhou Hut"

Burhou lies to the NNWest of the Channel Island of Alderney about one mile off. The channel between the islands is known as "The Swinge" where the tides can reach up to seven knotts and build up to impressive overfalls in strong winds and spring tides.

Alderney is one of the smaller and one of the quaintest of the Channel Islands and Burhou is looked after by warden Midge Dupont in conjunction with the Alderney Harbour Office.

Getting to Burhou.

By boat you can anchor in the Lug and row ashore.

From Alderney there are a few local boats that will take you out. "Felix","Lady Maris" or "The Voyager" are three small comercial boats that can take up to twelve and can be chartered.

To get direct to Alderney by air you can use "Blue Islands airlines" from Bournmouth and Jersey, or from Southampton and the other islands you can use "Aurigny air services".
